These terms cover your use of Backd, run by [COMPANY NAME], [ADDRESS] ("Backd", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the site you agree to them.

1. What Backd is

Backd is a free social app for making calls (predictions) on real-world events and building a public record. Prices shown on Backd come from Polymarket. Backd does not take deposits, hold money, accept bets or pay out winnings. The "$10" on each call is a scoring unit, not money.

2. Who can use it

  • You must be 18 or over.
  • You must only use Backd where doing so is legal for you.
  • One account per person. Keep your sign-in details to yourself.

3. Links to Polymarket

Where Polymarket allows it, Backd may link you to the same market on polymarket.com. Anything you do there is between you and Polymarket, under their terms. We don't show these links where Polymarket doesn't allow new positions or where local rules don't allow them, we may switch them off entirely, and you must not try to get around those restrictions (for example with a VPN).

4. Calls and records

Calls are recorded at the live price at the moment you make them. Once made, a call can't be edited or deleted, so records stay honest. Markets settle according to the rules written on each market. If a market is cancelled or voided, calls on it are voided too. We may correct records if we find a pricing or settlement error.

5. Your content and behaviour

  • You own what you post (reasons, crew messages). You give us permission to show it on Backd and in share cards.
  • No harassment, hate, spam, impersonation, or posting other people's private information.
  • No tipping services for money, paid promotion without saying so, or manipulating records.
  • We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.

6. Not advice

Nothing on Backd is financial, betting or investment advice. Other people's records show past results, not future ones. If you choose to put money on anything elsewhere, only use money you can afford to lose.

7. Our liability

Backd is provided as it is. We work to keep prices and records accurate but can't promise the service will always be available or error-free. [LIABILITY WORDING TO BE ADDED BY LAWYER.]

8. Ending your account

You can ask us to delete your account at any time from Settings. We may close accounts that break these terms.
