MONEY

Selling early

You don't have to wait for the result. Any open position can be sold back to the market at the current price.

How it works

  1. Open the call, tap Sell.

You'll see the live bid for your shares and what you'd get, less the 1% fee.

  2. Confirm.

Backd sends a sell order to Polymarket's book, fill-or-kill at that price or better. If it fills, the money is in your wallet immediately.

You can sell part of a position. What's left keeps running to settlement.

When it makes sense

  • Lock in a win. Yes bought at 40% now trading at 80%: sell and take the doubling, or hold for the full $1.
  • Cut a loss. The match turned; 60% is now 15%. Selling gets 15¢ a share back instead of risking zero.
  • Free up money for a better call.

What it does to your record

A sold call settles on your record at the sale price: a win if you sold above your entry, a loss if below, with the real profit or loss. It shows as “sold at 80%” on the receipt, so anyone reading your record can see you cashed out rather than rode it home.

Private beta. Real-money backing is being switched on. Until it is, every call is tracked at $10 so records, leaderboards and receipts work exactly as they will with money behind them. Nothing on this page is live until the switch flips.
Private beta: calls are tracked at $10 each while real-money backing through Polymarket is switched on.TermsPrivacyX
