Live chat

The live chat is one room shared by everyone on Backd, for talking about calls while they're open. Everyone signed in can read it and post in it during the beta.

Opening it

On a desktop the panel is open by default and sits beside the page. The minimise button (a dash) folds it down to the chat button, which shows how many messages arrived while it was closed; it stays how you left it next time. On a phone it starts closed, because it would cover the page, and opens from the same button. Every message shows the sender's rank mark and handle, and admins carry an ADMIN tag.

Who can post

Reading and posting are open to everyone signed in during the beta. Later, posting may need Regular rank (250 XP). Suspended accounts can't post.

The rules

  • Be decent. No abuse, no slurs, no harassment.
  • No links. Tag a market with $ so people can open it.
  • No spam, no begging, no referral codes.
  • Admins can hide messages and ban accounts.

Messages are up to 280 characters, one per person every 3 seconds. Links of any kind are refused, including bare domains like t.me/something, before the message is sent. The server and the database check the same rules, so there's no way round them from a browser.

Tagging a market

Type $ (or #) and start typing a market's name. Pick one from the list and it goes into your message as a chip that links to the market page, so people can open it and back it from there. Up to 2 markets per message. That's the only kind of link chat allows.

Moderation

Admins can hide any message and suspend accounts. Hidden messages disappear for everyone. The rules page has the full list of what gets an account suspended.

Backed calls are real positions. Your money sits in a wallet only you control; Backd never holds it.TermsPrivacyX
