Where Backd works

Backd routes orders to Polymarket, so Polymarket's rules about where people can trade apply on Backd too. We follow them exactly and never help anyone around them.

The rule

If Polymarket doesn't allow new positions from where you are, Backd won't let you back a call from there. You can still browse, follow, watch friends' calls and run a crew. Your location comes from your network connection.

The list

  • No trading: the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, Belgium, Italy, Poland, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Ontario, Quebec and other places on Polymarket's close-only list.
  • Blocked by a local regulator: Spain, where the DGOJ ordered Polymarket blocked in May 2026.
  • Blocked entirely: the countries on Polymarket's sanctions list.

Polymarket's own list is the source of truth; it changes, and Backd tracks it. Backd may also be unavailable in some countries for its own reasons; visitors there see a notice.

Elsewhere

Anywhere not on those lists, you can deposit, back calls, sell and withdraw. If you travel somewhere restricted, open positions stay yours and settle normally; you just can't open new ones until you're back.

Using a VPN or another person's account to get around this breaks Polymarket's terms and ours, and can get positions closed. Don't.
Private beta: calls are tracked at $10 each while real-money backing through Polymarket is switched on.TermsPrivacyX
