Stakes and payouts
Every call has a stake. The default is $10; the minimum is $1; the most Backd sends in one order is $5,000.
Choosing a stake
The call panel has quick amounts and a field for your own. What you see before confirming: the chance, the shares you'll get, what they pay if right, the profit, and the fee. The order is fill-or-kill at your price, so you never pay more per share than you were shown.
What it pays
A share pays $1 if the outcome happens and nothing if it doesn't. So a call at chance p with stake S buys S ÷ p shares and returns S ÷ p if right. At 58%, $10 returns $17.24: $7.24 profit, less the 1% fee.
| Chance | $10 returns | Profit if right | If wrong |
|---|---|---|---|
| 90% | $11.11 | +$1.01 | −$10.00 |
| 75% | $13.33 | +$3.23 | −$10.00 |
| 58% | $17.24 | +$7.14 | −$10.00 |
| 50% | $20.00 | +$9.90 | −$10.00 |
| 33% | $30.30 | +$20.20 | −$10.00 |
| 25% | $40.00 | +$29.90 | −$10.00 |
| 10% | $100.00 | +$89.90 | −$10.00 |
Void markets
If a market is cancelled, or resolves 50/50, shares are redeemed at their 50/50 value or the market's refund rule, whichever Polymarket applies. The call is marked void on your record and doesn't count toward right % or profit.
How stakes show on records
Profiles show profit in dollars, right %, and ROI (profit ÷ total staked), so a $5 caller and a $500 caller can be compared on judgement, not bankroll. Leaderboards rank by profit, ROI, right % (at least 5 settled) and XP. XP is earned per right call from its chance, not its stake, so bigger stakes don't buy XP.
