Rewards and burns
Backd gives back 70% of its fee. Three rewards come out of it: a rebate on your own calls that grows with your rank, a share of the fee on the calls of people you brought in, and a weekly XP pool for everyone who plays. The other 30% buys back and burns BACKD, from launch.
How the fee is shared
The 1% fee splits 70/30. Inside the 70%, each reward takes its percentage of the whole fee, and the XP pool gets what's left, so the rewards always add up to exactly 70%. Your inviter's share never costs you anything extra: it comes out of Backd's fee, not your stake.
Rank and referral shares on one call are capped at 70% of the fee together; past that each is scaled down by the same proportion. Whatever they leave of the 70% goes to the weekly XP pool, so exactly 70% always goes back. Shares accrue from your first call and are paid once payouts open.
Rank rebate
A share of the fee on your own calls, set by your rank. Rank comes from XP, which you earn for every right call, more for longer odds; see XP and ranks. The rebate on each call is worked out at the rank you held when it filled.
Per $100 is what the rebate comes to on $100 backed, from the 1% fee on it. It is worked out at the rank you held when each call filled.
Referral shares
Share your invite link. You earn a share of the fee on every call backed by someone who joined through it (direct), and a smaller share on the people they bring (indirect). It stops at two levels. See referrals for how invites are tracked.
Direct is the fee on calls backed by people who joined through your link; indirect is the fee on calls backed by the people they bring. Both minimums must be met to reach a tier.
The 70% cap
On any one call, the rank rebate and both referral shares together never pass 70% of the fee. At the very top of both ladders they would: a Legend backed by an Elite referrer adds up to 90%. Then each share is scaled down by the same proportion until they total 70%, so everyone keeps the same slice relative to each other. On almost every call nothing is scaled at all.
The weekly XP pool
Whatever the rank rebate and referral shares leave of the 70% goes into one pool a week: a Rookie's calls (no rebate yet), calls by people nobody invited, and every call below the cap. It is shared by the XP each person earned that week, so the people calling it right that week take the biggest slices. The pool is designed and starts when payouts open.
Getting paid
- Where you see it. Your rank rebate is on the XP page and your referral shares on the Referrals page, both building from your first real call.
- When it's paid. Once payouts open, after legal sign-off in the countries involved. How and when you claim will be set out here that day.
- What counts. Real fees on real filled orders only. Calls that don't fill, and anything that isn't a real order, earn nothing.
Buybacks and burns
| Source | What happens | Proof |
|---|---|---|
| 30% of the platform fee | Buys BACKD back and burns it, for good | A transaction for every purchase and burn |
| 50% of the token's trading fees | Buys BACKD back and burns it, for good | A transaction for every purchase and burn |
| 50% of the token's trading fees | Kept liquid for creators, campaigns, onboarding and partnerships. Not burned | A published spend summary |
Burned tokens are sent to an address no one can move them from. How the two flywheels fit together is on the flywheel page.
The short version
“70% of every fee goes back.” Precisely: 70% of the 1% fee on every filled order is shared between the backer's rank rebate, their referrers and the weekly XP pool, tracked from the first call and paid once payouts open.
